PRP injections may help treat your chronic knee pain.

If you’re living with chronic knee pain, osteoarthritis, rotator cuff injury, or tendon inflammation, you’re not alone – and you don’t have to accept chronic knee pain as part of daily life. At our Norwest Sydney clinic, we offer non-surgical PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections designed to help you move more freely and live with less pain.

PRP works with your body’s natural healing processes, using concentrated platelets from your own blood to regenerate and lubricate the joints from within. Unlike cortisone injections, which often offer short-term relief, PRP is based on regenerative science and can provide pain relief that lasts up to nine months. If surgery isn’t an option—or you’re simply looking for a more affordable alternative with less downtime —book a consultation with Dr John Thorsell Itriago to see if PRP is right for you. Let’s help you get back to doing what you love, pain-free.

Dr. John and his team will assess your condition via a medical exam and your imaging.

PRP is prepared from your blood and injected under ultrasound guidance.

Step 3: Recovery

Gradual improvement can be expected over 4–8 weeks with tailored rehab.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PRP and how does it work? +
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is created from your own blood. By concentrating your body’s growth factors and injecting them back into areas of pain, PRP helps stimulate healing and repair of damaged tissue.
Should I try this if cortisone treatments didnt work for me? +
Yes, PRP may still be a good option even if cortisone injections didn’t provide relief. While cortisone temporarily reduces inflammation, PRP works differently—by using your body’s own platelets to promote healing and regenerate joint tissue. Many people who didn’t respond to cortisone have found longer-lasting pain relief with PRP. A consultation at our Bowral clinic can help determine if it’s suitable for your specific condition.
Am I a suitable candidate for PRP treatment? +
PRP is ideal for adults experiencing joint, tendon, ligament or muscle pain — particularly those wanting a non-surgical approach or who have not responded well to physiotherapy or medication.
How many PRP sessions will I need? +
Most people require between 1–3 PRP injections, depending on the severity and chronicity of their pain.
When will I start to feel relief? +
Many patients start noticing improvement within 1–3 weeks, with gradual improvement continuing for a few months as the healing process progresses.
Is PRP covered by Medicare? +
PRP is currently not covered by Medicare. Costs and flexible payment options will be discussed during your consultation.
Does PRP work for long-term or chronic pain? +
Yes — it is often used to treat persistent pain when traditional treatments haven’t worked, by reducing inflammation and stimulating tissue repair.
How much does PRP treatment cost? +
We provide affordable, transparent pricing for PRP and PRP + Hyaluronic Acid therapy – offering a cost-effective alternative to surgery with no downtime.

Dr John's consultation fee is $270.

PRP therapy is priced at $550 per treatment and most patients need 2–3 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart.

PRP combined with Hyaluronic Acid is priced at $750 and recommended for 2 sessions 4 weeks apart.

Results vary by individual and can last up to 6-9 months.
