FAQ
PRP & Hyaluronic Acid Therapy for Joint Pain
Struggling with knee osteoarthritis, meniscal tears, or chronic joint pain? Our PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) injections offer a non-surgical, evidence-based solution to relieve pain, improve mobility, and promote long-term healing. Below, we answer common questions about treatment, costs, and what to expect.
What is PRP Therapy?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a regenerative injection therapy that uses concentrated platelets from your own blood to accelerate healing in damaged tendons, ligaments, and arthritic joints. It’s effective for:
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Meniscal tears
- Tendinopathies (e.g., hip bursitis, gluteal tendon pain)
Unlike surgery, PRP is minimally invasive and harnesses your body’s natural healing process.
Does Medicare or insurance cover PRP?
No. Currently, Medicare and most insurers do not cover PRP or HA therapy. Costs are out-of-pocket, but we offer transparent pricing:
- PRP Injection: $550
- PRP + HA Combo: $750

Do I need a referral?
Not usually. If you already have a diagnosis (e.g., knee osteoarthritis), you can book directly. For complex cases, we may recommend consulting your GP first
How should I prepare for my appointment?
1 Week Before:
- Stop blood thinners (e.g., Aspirin, Plavix) if approved by your doctor 7 days prior.
- Avoid anti-inflammatories (e.g., Ibuprofen, Voltaren) 3 days prior.
Day of Treatment:
- Drink 1L of water.
- Take 2 Panadol (if no allergies).
- Bring any scans/reports and arrange a ride if needed.
What happens after PRP injections?
- Week 1: Mild swelling or warmth (normal). Avoid ice/NSAIDs.
- Weeks 2–3: Pain and stiffness improve.
- Week 6+: Gradual return to activity.
