A Clinic Built on Experience and Integrity
In today’s world of fast medicine and exaggerated claims, many people living with joint pain or tendon injuries find themselves navigating confusing treatment choices. Between waitlists for surgery, pain management options, and conflicting opinions, the path to relief can feel overwhelming. That’s why The Story Behind Dr John PRP begins not with a product, but with a purpose: to offer a conservative, transparent, and patient-first approach to PRP treatment.
Founded by Dr John Thorsell Itriago, Dr John PRP is located inside Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista, Sydney. The clinic was created for people who want to explore non-surgical options for joint-related conditions — particularly those affecting the knee, elbow, or tendons — while working with a qualified doctor in a low-pressure, informative setting.
Why Dr John PRP Was Created
After years assisting in orthopaedic surgery, Dr John noticed a recurring theme: many patients wanted an alternative to surgery, but weren’t sure what was safe, responsible or worth pursuing. They had heard about Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and its growing use in orthopaedics, but they were hesitant. Understandably so — many clinics promoted it with hype, vague promises, or rushed explanations.
Dr John believed there was a better way.
Rather than promoting PRP as a one-size-fits-all solution, the clinic offers it as one potential part of a broader, evidence-informed care strategy. Every patient is assessed thoroughly, and treatment is only offered when appropriate. There are no upfront packages, no bulk prepayments, and no misleading expectations. Just informed guidance, clinical care, and a conservative approach to musculoskeletal treatment.
What to Expect at the Clinic
The experience at Dr John PRP is designed to be calm, clinical, and respectful of your time and health goals. The initial consultation is 30–45 minutes and involves:
- A thorough Medical History
- A full musculoskeletal examination
- Review of imaging (if available)
- Discussion of diagnosis and treatment options
- Exploration of whether PRP or PRP combined with hyaluronic acid (PRP+HA) is appropriate
If you and Dr John agree to proceed, treatment is planned accordingly. PRP is prepared using TGA-listed, sterile, closed-system kits designed to minimise white cell contamination. All injections are performed by Dr John himself, and ultrasound guidance is used where necessary to ensure accuracy.
Most treatment protocols involve two to three injections spaced approximately four weeks apart. There is no guarantee of improvement — and this is openly communicated — but the goal is always to support patients in making well-informed, low-risk decisions about their care.

Who the Clinic Is For
Dr John PRP is ideal for people seeking a medically responsible option for:
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Meniscal degeneration or tears
- Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
- Patellar or Achilles tendinopathy
- Other non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions where PRP is considered appropriate
Some patients come after being referred by orthopaedic surgeons, others come directly after researching their options. All are welcome, and referrals are not required to book.
The Ethos of Conservative Care
At the core of the clinic is the belief that less can often be more. Instead of pushing procedures, Dr John prioritises discussion. Instead of locking patients into treatment programs, he offers step-by-step reviews. The goal isn’t to sell a product — it’s to help patients make decisions they’re comfortable with, based on science, context, and clarity.
It’s also why physiotherapy is often recommended 4–6 weeks after the first injection. PRP is not a replacement for movement — and while it may support the body’s own biological processes, the best outcomes often come from integrating treatment with strength and conditioning.
